Campbell & Company Promotes Two Key Team Members to Vice Presidents

Campbell & Company, a national consulting firm, has announced the promotion of Sarah Marino to Vice President of Fundraising and Dan Nevez to Vice President of Executive Search.

In their new roles as Vice Presidents, they will build client relationships, lead Campbell & Company teams to identify solutions to client challenges, and mentor and serve as a resource to our newer staff members. Read on to find out their accomplishments as they worked toward this well-deserved role:

SARAH MARINO

Since joining Campbell & Company in July 2017 as a Consultant, Sarah has distinguished herself by anchoring the Northern California consulting practice, selling and serving complex consulting projects, mentoring earlier-career colleagues, contributing to the firm’s arts and culture knowledge bank, and leading the firm’s DEIA initiative. Prior to joining Campbell & Company, Sarah served as Vice President of Institutional Giving and Women’s Philanthropy at Opportunity International, where she managed multi-sector, high-value partnerships. She also served as Opportunity’s National Fundraising Director in Australia, where she sat on the leadership team, managed a national major gifts team, and worked strategically with the Board of Directors. She’s also held fundraising roles at Steppenwolf Theatre, TheatreWorks, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At Campbell & Company, she has played significant roles on projects and/or has been the primary relationship manager with clients such as Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Great Rivers Greenway, Educare, The Nature Conservancy (in CA, HI, and ID), Nerinx Hall, YWCA Silicon Valley, Starlight Theatre, University of San Diego, San Francisco State University, and several independent schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. When she decided to move to Seattle earlier this year, she successfully worked alongside now-retired Vice President JoAnn Mills to take the helm of several high-profile projects, including Seattle Repertory Theatre and YouthCare, who have extended their work with Campbell thanks to Sarah’s excellent work.

Sarah has gracefully managed to lead the firm’s most significant initiative in recent history, the DEIA Change Framework. Her vision and persistence have ensured that the firm has seen marked progress toward our diversity, equity, inclusion, and access goals. This includes the launch of our Equity Partners pro-bono program, a learning and development plan for our team and the management of Campbell’s DEIA Council.

Outside the firm, Sarah has engaged with a number of organizations in and around philanthropy, including the Women in Leadership and Philanthropy at the University of San Francisco, where she has served on the fund development and governance committee, reunion committee member and volunteered for the LEAD scholar program at Santa Clara University, the Development Executives Roundtable in San Francisco, and AFP Advancement Northwest.

DAN NEVEZ

Since joining Campbell & Company in September 2010, Dan has successfully placed over 150 senior executives at regional and national nonprofits and associations. With over 30 years of professional experience in higher educationarts and culture institutions, and retained executive search, his significant expertise lies in partnering with CEOs and boards, along with his extensive, diverse networks, enabling him to help his clients find exceptional candidates that fit their unique needs.

Prior to joining Campbell & Company, Dan served as principal at a premier national executive search firm and eventually founded one of the nation’s first Latinx-owned nonprofit search firms. Prior to discovering his passion for search, Dan was a museum curator and socio-economic historian at an internationally recognized research center and museum at the University of Chicago. Dan received his master’s degree and completed his doctoral studies at the University of Chicago. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, graduating with high honors and being elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

He is an active participant and frequent speaker on racial diversity and equity, philanthropy, performance metrics, and executive leadership at numerous national associations, including the Network of Nonprofit Search Consultants, where he has served as an Executive Committee Member, Effective Practices Committee Co-Chair, and Membership Committee Co-Chair. At Campbell & Company, he is a founding member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access Council. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his partner and husband of 25 years, Gene Kang, an Emmy award-winning regional/international television news journalist for KTLA 5 News.

Campbell & Company is grateful for the dedicated work of these three new vice presidents, and we look forward to seeing the fantastic things they will do in the coming year and beyond.
