Nic Bone is a Data Analyst on the Strategic Information Services team, bringing his background in model development, analysis, and data visualization to help provide clients with insights that matter.
Before joining Campbell & Company, Nic was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Virginia Tech, where he developed models analyzing millions of citizen science observations to predict behavioral patterns in birds. His experience at Virginia Tech also included leading a community-based invasive species monitoring project, where he designed interactive dashboards that translated data into management decisions — skills he now applies to help nonprofit organizations understand and engage their communities more effectively.
Having been both inspired by nonprofit institutions in his academic journey and having worked with Lake Bluff Open Lands to preserve Illinois’ native prairies, he is motivated by the transformative potential of mission-driven organizations. He brings this passion to his work at Campbell & Company, recognizing that nonprofits have the power to change lives and improve our world.
Nic holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech, focusing on statistical modeling, and a BS in Evolution, Ecology, and Behavioral Biology from Beloit College.
In his spare time, Nic enjoys birdwatching, learning about and growing native plants, playing music with friends, and exploring museums.
