This research, conducted by Campbell & Company in partnership with CASE, takes a closer look at how colleges and universities are navigating growing enrollment pressures. The findings reinforce that the much-discussed demographic cliff is no longer a future concern for many institutions. Nearly 70% of respondents reported they have experienced, are experiencing, or expect to experience enrollment challenges within the next five years, with many anticipating resulting revenue shortfalls.
For advancement and development leaders, the findings point to an important reality: enrollment challenges are quickly becoming everyone’s challenge. Institutions are increasingly turning to advancement teams to help strengthen recruitment and retention efforts, secure critical scholarship support, build partnerships, and generate new sources of revenue.
This research, led by Campbell & Company’s Carrie Dahlquist and Jon Kingzette, is intended to start a broader conversation about how advancement professionals can help their institutions respond to gaps that are already being seen and felt across higher education.
We are grateful to CASE for their partnership in bringing this important research to the field and helping elevate a conversation that will only grow more important in the years ahead.
