The Challenge
Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. (PPMW) has been providing high-quality, affordable healthcare to individuals in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area for 80 years.
In 2012, PPMW recognized that it had outgrown its main health center in downtown DC, a facility that was located far away from much of its patient population. As a result, the PPMW Board voted to sell the center and build a new facility.
The Process
PPMW partnered with Campbell & Company to conduct a campaign planning study, including a capacity analysis of PPMW’s donor database and campaign case development. At the same time, PPMW received a $5 million pledge toward the new center from Alfred Moses in memory of Carol Whitehill Moses, a former PPMW Board President. Building on that momentum, we provided counsel throughout the campaign, guiding PPMW as it recruited a campaign committee and leveraged the leadership pledge to motivate other major donors.
Our Executive Search practice also recruited a Director of Development with deep campaign experience who helped institute a relationship management system. Our Fundraising team worked with the new Director of Development, major gift officers, and the President and CEO to solicit significant gifts from supporters who were not previously major donors to PPMW.
