In the world of memes, mashups, popups and flash mobs, is there still a place for the traditional cultural arts? A panel convened to discuss that for Campbell & Company’s recent webinar, The Future of the Arts: Strategies for Sustainability. Joining the discussion were Robert Alpaugh, Senior Consultant at Campbell & Company; Carroll Joynes, Co-Founder and Director of the Cultural Policy Center, Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago; and Ben Cameron, Program Director of the Arts at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

A joint project between The National Center for Charitable Statistics, GuideStar, The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, Blackbaud, and Giving USA Foundation. The 2011 Nonprofit Fundraising Survey measures the impact of economic conditions within the community on fundraising efforts for nonprofit organizations and private institutions, compared to previous years.

Edith Falk, Chair of The Giving USA Foundation announces that The Giving Institute has joined The Nonprofit Research Collaborative.  The Nonprofit Research Collaborative includes The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana UniversityGuideStar USA, The Foundation Center, the Urban Institute’s National Center for Charitable Statistics, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Blackbaud.  Each of these organizations has, at a minimum, ten years of direct experience collecting information from nonprofits concerning charitable receipts, fundraising practices, and/or grantmaking activities.

Campbell & Company's Chair and Chief Executive Officer Edith Falk was interviewed by the Philanthropy Journal for the article Conducting a Campaign 'Post-Mortem' published on May 13th, 2011.  In the interview Edith discusses what a "post-mortem" is and why it is important to the nonprofit organization.  Edith also touches on who should be involved, important steps, and a "post-mortem" should be used.  To view the entire interview please click here.

She explains the difference between how organizations handle smaller donations vs larger donations. "For larger donations, GivingUSA Chair Edith Falk says, nonprofits generally will draw up written agreements with donors."
