Event: Compelling Major Gifts Stories and Strategies
Thursday, June 28, 2018: 2:30 - 3:45pm ET in Fort Lauderdale, FL at the 2018 PSI Conference on Philanthropy
Major gifts need to be the focus of every fundraising program. Ideally, 80% of your donations should come from major gifts. Define for your community if that means $1,000 or more a year; $5,000; or $10,000. For hospital fundraising it is critically important to move past the yearly gala and/or golf tournament to major gifts. We’ll explore ways of developing special projects to help create these compelling major gift stories and relate some of the major gift stories from doctors, big gift donors, grateful patient families, and board members who help to inspire others. An interactive section of the presentation will enable everyone to get involved.
Top 3 immediate benefits to be derived from attending this session:
1) Understand it is relatively easy to draw out major gifts stories from your board members, current donors, and prospective “not yet” donors in the community
2) Fast ways to package stories while developing longer term story telling in your case presentation, website, and printed materials to make it easy for board members to share with others in a variety of settings
3) Realize opportunities for storytelling to each other at your next board meetings and other near-term opportunities such as fundraising committee meetings, cultivation events, special fundraisers like your gala, and longer term, new donor cultivation events (no ask gatherings)
