Event: From Individual Impact to Collective Vision: Using Communications and Fundraising Strategies to Build Transformative Support
Wednesday, August 1, 2018: 11:15am -12:30pm ET in National Harbor, MD at the Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference
Many nonprofits offer a range of programs to enrich their communities—but how do these distinctive initiatives add up to a unified and inspirational vision that can motivate donors? The Society for Science & the Public has used a mix of communications and fundraising strategies to address this critical question. A membership organization with a long history of effective programming—from a respected science publication to prestigious student competitions—the Society is relatively new to philanthropy. As its centennial approaches, the organization has set out to bolster its development activities and connect with its subscriber base through its first-ever comprehensive campaign.
This session will walk participants through the Society’s campaign preparation activities that include strategic visioning, case development, and prospect qualification processes that have jumpstarted its fundraising capabilities. Using concrete examples, we will discuss how the organization has been able to articulate a cohesive vision for the future and convey this direction in conversations with prospective donors, laying the foundation for their transformative fundraising effort. Attendees will leave the session with an understanding of how communications and fundraising strategies can work together to produce measurable results.
