Event: Develop a Compelling Case for Support that Your Staff and Board are Excited to Share
August 3, 2017: 2:15-3:30 pm ET in National Harbor, MD at the 12th Annual Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference
Your organization's case for support is a fundamental document, describing your mission, vision, and need for support. Most importantly, it is an invitation to prospective donors to join your organization in helping to achieve this vision, so you've got to get it right. Regardless of whether or not you are launching a capital campaign or a specific fundraising effort, the case forms the basis for all of your donor communications and provides a valuable resource to everyone who serves as an ambassador or asker on your behalf. To ensure that you develop the right tone, effective messaging, and shared buy-in, developing your case should be a collective effort—one that engages Board members, staff, and leadership in the process.
Since its formation as a private nonprofit organization in 1990, the Children's Inn at NIH had been challenged by how to tell its story in a clear and compelling way that would also make the case for philanthropy. Christina Yoon, Senior Consultant at Campbell & Company, will facilitate a discussion on the Inn's recent case development project with panelists who were intimately involved in this work: Chief Development and Communications Officer Fern Stone and Chief Executive Officer Jennie Lucca. Through candid and lively conversation, we will explore how the Inn developed a way to explain the multi-faceted organization to a variety of different audiences in a clear and succinct manner.
