Event: Trends and Impacts of the State of Philanthropy in California
November 2, 2017: 9:15 - 10:15 am PT in Los Angeles, CA at the AFP-GLAC National Philanthropy Day & Conference
2016 represented the third year of consecutive growth in U.S. giving. While philanthropy clocks modest gains nationwide, what’s happening on the ground in Southern California? As the sixth largest economy in the world and a powerhouse of innovation, California affects the entire philanthropic market. Drawing on the Campbell & Company original report, The State of Philanthropy in Post-Recession California, and the 2017 publication of Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy, this session will help you navigate challenges unique to our region’s philanthropy.
Our panel of leaders from mid-sized, local nonprofits will explore sector-wide trends, discussing their experiences and offering actionable insights to address the generosity gap. Attendees will leave the session armed with techniques to attract new donors, retain existing support, build stronger teams, and thrive in our uneven philanthropic landscape.
