Description
Effective development programs connect highly competent professionals with passionate, committed volunteers. How do you recruit the right individuals, prepare them for success and use their time (and yours) most wisely? This session will focus on the challenges that development operations face in today’s fundraising environment such as the increased competition for volunteer time.
Target Audience
Professionals would include those from any size development shop who work with and manage fundraising volunteer corps, whether for high end annual fund requests, for major gift programs, or for capital campaigns. Would include front line development staff, those who oversee front line development staff, chief development officers and executive directors.
Learning objectives and desired outcomes
- Understand why volunteer leaders are essential in successful fundraising efforts.
- Recognize the common traits of an effective volunteer and how to identify in which roles he/she will be most successful.
- Know where to scout for and how to recruit potential volunteers for their major gift program.
