About Marc HiltonKnown for his curiosity, Marc Hilton brings a sense of urgency and focus to each client project. He has special expertise in developing strategies to secure pace-setting gifts, training and motivating volunteers and keeping campaigns on track and on schedule. Marc accomplishes all of this by asking questions, by working to understand a client’s culture from the inside while remaining an objective voice of reason, and by drawing on his decades of experience to find examples, research and other resources for clients to learn from. As a teacher of major gift fundraising, Marc’s knowledge of the field is informed by the latest research and trends, which he evaluates through the lens of his nearly 35-year career.
Marc approaches each client with enthusiasm. He particularly appreciates opportunities when his work allows him to:
- Share new studies or research findings with clients that are immediately relevant to the challenges at hand.
- Experience the long-term effects on a client of a campaign or other fundraising initiative.
- Engage with new generations of fundraising professionals around the country.
- Learn about new communities, whether through work with a professional association or a local college
Marc joined Campbell & Company from the Chicago Historical Society, where he served for seven years as Vice President of Development. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University, Marc also earned his Master of History from the University of Chicago and taught American History at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a member of the board of the Institute for Clinical Social Work.
