Marc Hilton has over 34 years of professional development experience with higher education, cultural institutions and professional societies. Known for his energy and insatiable curiosity, Mr. Hilton brings considerable breadth and depth of experience to his clients. He has special expertise in developing strategies to secure pace-setting gifts, training and motivating volunteers and keeping campaigns on track and on schedule.
Now in his 20th year at Campbell & Company, Mr. Hilton joined the firm from the Chicago Historical Society, where he served for seven years as vice president of development. During that time, he successfully directed a capital campaign that raised more than double the original goal and helped the Society triple its members and donors. Previously, Mr. Hilton directed the development department at the Illinois Institute of Technology, headed IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law’s fundraising program and served on the development staff at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University, Mr. Hilton also earned a master’s degree in history from the University of Chicago and taught American history at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a director of the Institute for Clinical Social Work and secretary of the Beth Emet Foundation. Mr. Hilton currently teaches in Northwestern University’s School of Continuing Studies’ philanthropy program and speaks often on philanthropy and nonprofit management issues.
