Joanne Ray’s career in development and nonprofit management spans more than twenty years. Focused primarily in hospitals and professional associations, Ms. Ray brings her organizational and program development, marketing communications, training, strategic planning and relationship management skills—especially in the area of corporate donors—to Campbell & Company and its clients.

Prior to joining Campbell & Company, Ms. Ray served as the chief development and communications officer of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), a ten-thousand member international medical association. Ms. Ray led the creation of the ASGE Foundation, which is focused on research as well as patient and public education. Through the Foundation, Ms. Ray created the Society’s annual fund program and a corporate council of annual donor companies of $100,000 or more. In her time with ASGE, Ms. Ray helped the Society increase its annual contributions by nearly 170 percent.

As vice president for development and communications of the Emergency Nurses Association, where she served immediately prior to ASGE, Ms. Ray created partnerships and funding relationships to support written and electronic publications, research grants, scholarships and public education information. She expanded the Association’s funding base and created new funding avenues through an annual fund and an organization-wide endowment campaign.

Her medical society work has included significant coordination of patient and public education campaigns. She collaborated with corporate partners as well as national and governmental organizations focused on patient advocacy, safety and injury prevention, and disaster relief.

Ms. Ray previously served as executive director of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, director of annual giving and interim director of volunteer services of Delnor Community Health Care Foundation and Delnor Community Hospital and workED in development with the Rialto Square Theatre.

Ms. Ray holds a bachelor of arts degree from Valparaiso University. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the American Society of Association Executives, the Association Forum of Chicago and the Assoication Foundation Group.
