Don Campbell formed Campbell & Company in July 1976 and guided the company to prominence as this country’s leading nonprofit fundraising, marketing and executive search firm.  He became chairman in 1995.  With over 45 years of campaign and development experience, he personally has been associated with campaigns and programs that have generated over $3 billion in philanthropy.

Mr. Campbell is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Illinois Saint Andrew Society, the New Trier High School Educational Foundation, the Youth Center Advisory Board and Northwest Community Healthcare Foundation and advises several nonprofit organizations.  He recently served as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Illinois Saint Andrew Society and chair of the Center on Philanthropy’s Board of Governors; earlier, he served as chairman of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation Board of Directors and two terms as chairman of the international Board of Directors of the AFP.

Mr. Campbell is also past chairman of the Development Committee of United Way of Chicago and past president of the Chicago Chapter of the AFP, where he remains involved.

In February 2006, Mr. Campbell was presented with the AFP Founder’s Medallion for his many contributions to the Association and the profession.  He was honored in August 2002 by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University with the Henry A. Rosso Medal “For Lifetime Achievement in Ethical Fund Raising.”  Mr. Campbell is also the recipient of Indiana University-Purdue University’s 2000 “Spirit of Philanthropy” award and AFP Chicago Chapter’s first President’s Award for distinguished service to the fundraising profession.  In 1993, he was honored by the AFP as the “Outstanding Fund Raising Executive of the Year.”

Today, Mr. Campbell is considering the idea of retirement while consulting with selected clients, venturing into real estate development and allocating most of his time to his priority—being his daughter Kimberly’s dad.
