Preeminent public policy expert," Dr. Arthur Brooks, author of "Who Really Cares - America's Charity Divide: Who Gives, Who Doesn't, and Why It Matters" shared his views at the AFP Washington DC Chapter's Advanced Executives Breakfast Series, sponsored by Campbell & Company. In his research, Dr. Brooks, a self-professed liberal, discovered that the preconception held by many, including himself, that the political "left" is more compassionate than the "right," is a myth - and in fact the opposite is true. Michael Rao, president of Central Michigan University, will receive CASE District V's Four-Year Institution Executive Leadership Award on December 9 at the district's annual conference in Chicago.
The Masters School campaign - "The Masters Advantage" - with an initial goal of $27,000,000, officially closed the campaign books on June 30, 2007 with total attainments of $29,845,456. Congratulations!
On October 23rd at its first-ever gala, "An Audible Feast," WBEZ Chicago announced its $15 million "Chicago Public Radio Campaign for a Sound Future," with $10 million in lead gifts. Over 500 guests visited the newly expanded studios of Chicago Public Radio for brief tours before proceeding to next door to The Shakespeare Theatre for cocktails, dinner, and a one-hour program featuring public radio celebrities. The Tulsa-based Society for Exploration Geophysicists and the SEG Foundation have announced in September at their Annual Meeting in San Antonio the "Advancing Geophysics Today, Inspiring Geoscientists for Tomorrow" campaign with $9.7 million raised toward its goal of $15 million. This extraordinary effort will accelerate the rate of geophysical innovation and knowledge transfer and attract more young people to geoscience careers.

Laurel Jorgensen joined the Campbell & Company writing team in Chicago as an associate consultant. Laurel received her BSJ and MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism and prior to joining Campbell & Company, Laurel worked for the Associated Press as well as several major daily news organizations including the Orange County Register, Chicago Tribune and Crain's Chicago Business.
Mario Avila joined the Executive Search practice as an associate consultant. Mario is a graduate of Dartmouth College, is bi-lingual and has experience teaching locally and overseas. Prior to joining Campbell & Company, he was a recruiter with Apex Systems, one of the largest tech recruiters in the country.

November 27, Cleveland - Daniel Ducoff will conduct a workshop on evaluating grant proposals with Mott Youth Fund Distribution Committee of the Cleveland United Way. The Committee distributes about $50,000 in grants each year and serves as a training ground for students who are interested in learning how to help nonprofit organizations make a greater impact in their communities.
